When you arrive for your first appointment, you will meet our friendly staff who will make sure your visit is comfortable and efficient. Dr. Leo Malin or Dr. Rachel Malin will see you for a comprehensive exam and consultation and will want to know about your goals and concerns. He can explain your treatment options in a way that is easy-to-understand and answer all your questions.

Getting Started

You will be greeted by one of our friendly staff who will help you fill out your initial paperwork. We will take you to your consultation room, where Dr. Leo Malin or Dr. Rachel Malin’s assistant will discuss your goals and concerns with you. Dr. Leo Malin or Dr. Rachel Malin will then see you and ask you further questions so he can get a complete understanding of your situation and what you wish to achieve.

Dr. Leo Malin or Dr. Rachel Malin will conduct a comprehensive diagnostic exam using the latest technology. This allows him to be accurate in his assessments and gives him the ability to plan every step of your treatment for the most comfortable and stable result.

Cone beam 3D CT scan

When needed—for example when your treatment will involve dental implants—our doctors will use our state-of-the-art cone beam 3D CT scanner to obtain 3D 360-degree views of your jawbone, teeth and surrounding structures.

These images can be magnified and viewed from any angle. This allows him to accurately diagnose the condition of your oral health and bone levels without having to use invasive exploratory surgery. From this information he can precisely plan your dental implant treatment and any bone grafting that may be required.

Advanced jaw and bite analysis

When muscle or joint pain is discovered in connection with your jaw motion or bite alignment, our doctors will perform a thorough analysis of the forces that are causing your discomfort using an advanced diagnostic apparatus known as the BioPak Evaluation System. The BioPak instruments measure and record jaw motion, jaw joint function, muscle strain and bite alignment forces.

Our doctors will use this diagnostic information to plan your treatment to establish a proper bite relationship. Diagnosing and correcting bite misalignment is known as neuromuscular dentistry, and Dr. Malin makes this a key part of his dental implant and full-mouth reconstruction treatment.

When your bite is properly aligned, your jaw muscles can move freely and comfortably, and your implants and restorations will not be subject to unusual forces that could destabilize them or cause them to wear over time.

Exam results and treatment plan

Dr. Leo Malin or Dr. Rachel Malin will go over your exam results with you and explain your treatment options in detail. If his recommendations include dental implant treatment, he will show you a number of models which demonstrate exactly how implants work and how your new replacement teeth will look and function. He will make sure that all your questions are answered so you can make a well-informed decision about your treatment.
